Integrating Family Involvement into Primary School Curriculum in Bangladesh

Abstract 

The research for this poster aims to investigate the concepts of family involvement with children from kindergarten to grade 6 within the curriculum, emphasizing collaborative learning and active participation. It critically emphasizes how family and community engagement influence the academic, moral, social, and overall development of children through interaction and collaboration in a learning process. Key themes include John Dewey’s perspective that education is a social process facilitated through interactions, including those with family members in a learner-centric approach. The research paper for the poster synthesizes scholars’, educators’, and parents’ insights, as well as various curricula from different parts of the world in showing both the benefits and challenges of family engagement at school. This poster contributes to the field of education significantly in terms of curriculum implications and policy making. The finding suggests more family involvement and having knowledgeable educators in primary schools in Bangladesh, who are well-resourced and trained to advocate the lessons. These should enrich the Bangladeshi primary education system as well as improve the social structure of the country.
